Are You Prepared?

As you may already know, significant changes are coming regarding Smoke Alarm legislation commencing January 1st, 2022. From this date, the new legislation states that all residences must have hardwired 240-volt photoelectric or 10-year lithium battery-powered smoke alarms installed in each bedroom and on each storey, following strict placement guidelines.

In almost all cases, this will mean multiple alarms on each storey, and all smoke alarms must be interconnected with each other.

Failure to upgrade by the due date will result in not leasing or selling your property. However, more severe consequences will also come into play, such as hefty fines for Landlords and putting us in a dangerous position as the managing agency.

While that all sounds complicated, we assure you it is not! We are partnered with one of the best in the business, Detector Inspector, who provides a stress-free legislation upgrade process for all properties across Australia.

We met with our technician recently, who explained the urgency of getting properties locked in as soon as possible for an upgrade before time runs out or bookings fill.

To our owners who have already upgraded, well done you – 5 gold stars! You are now ahead of the game and can sit back, relax, and avoid the craziness as we lead closer to this date.

If you have any questions about the new Smoke Alarm Legislation, or you are not entirely happy with your current management team, we warmly invite you to contact us today on 07 3396 1396.
